Marketing Calendars: Creative ideas to reach prospective students

Whether you consider yourself creative or logistical, you and your office can have an impact on student recruitment by getting innovative in your marketing efforts.  Each month we will bring a calendar of events and ideas to creatively bring students to you.

February 2 – Superbowl Sunday

Take advantage of email and social media during the Super Bowl.  During the largest watched sporting event of the year, this is a good time to get email and social media blasts delivered.  While there is excitement on the screen and food-a-plenty, many are actually checking email and social media during the game.

Ideas:

“Game On,” only 3 days left to register for our Open House.

“Catch the Action” at our Campus Open House.

February 2 – Groundhog Day

If you are not a fan of sporting events, Groundhog Day can be a fun alternative.  Grab attention through creative social media posts or fun emails.

Ideas:

Create an irresistible animated gif in your email campaign.  Feature a goofy groundhog with a fun message, or;

Host an Instagram contest having students post photos of themselves and their (non)shadows.  Be engaging and offer free t-shirts to the first 100 posts that include a tag to your university.

February 14 – Valentine’s Day

‘Tis the day of love.  Whether a student has a loved one to share this day with or not, show them how much your university “loves” them.

Idea:

“We love our students” campaign.  Send email blasts of student accomplishments and the pride you carry for your students.  Feature student's academic achievements, athletic abilities, organization involvement and more.  Don't forget messaging about prospective students accomplishments and pride, as well.
